IF YOU HAVE YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION CARD, YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A VALID PHOTO ID TO VOTE EARLY OR TO VOTE ON ELECTION DAY. (Texas law that requires you to take a photo ID with you to the polls have been challenged in the federal courts and are not in effect for this election.)
Early voting is from October 22 to November 2. You can vote early for the November 6 election at any of the Williamson County early voting locations (regardless of which voting precinct you live in). You can find your voting precinct on your voter's registration card which you received in the mail. If you do not have a voter's registration card, you can show up at the polls with a valid photo ID, and the poll workers will look you up in the computer to find out which voting precinct you live in so that you can vote the correct ballot for your voting precinct.

Primary elections for the Democratic and Republican parties in Texas were held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
Ken Crain ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary. The incumbent DA, John Bradley, was challenged in the Republican Primary by Jana Duty, who is the incumbent County Attorney for Williamson County. (Ms. Duty has been the incumbent County Attorney since January 1, 2005. In December, 2011, she had at least two announced challengers in the Republican Primary for County Attorney if she had decided to run for re-election. She had been publicly reprimanded by the State Bar of Texas in November, 2011, for ethics violations and she had been fired by the Williamson County Commissioners Court as their attorney. After spending $9,000 on a private poll to determine if she had a shot at winning, she decided that she was outraged over Bradley's handling of the Michael Morton case and she filed to run against the incumbent DA John Bradley rather than seek re-election to the County Attorney position.) John Bradley was defeated in the Republican primary on May 29. Therefore Ken will face Jana Duty in the general election on November 6.
The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
